A Magical Place Where Your Heart Lives
Have you ever wondered where your feelings go when you feel them? Where does that warm, fluttery thing go when something makes you happy? Where does that tight, twisty feeling live when something makes you worried? Where does the big, bubbling thing go when you feel so, so happy you could burst?
Deep inside you—right in the center of your chest, where your heart beats its steady beat—there's a magical place. A place so wonderful and so special that most people never even know it exists. This magical place is called Feelings Town.
Feelings Town is a town unlike any other town in the whole wide world. It isn't made of buildings and roads and cars. It isn't found on any map that grown-ups draw. It lives inside every single person—inside you and me and your best friend and your teacher and your grandmother and even the grumpy man at the corner store who never seems to smile. Everyone has a Feelings Town, and every Feelings Town is a little bit different, just like every person is a little bit different.
In Feelings Town, feelings don't just float around in the air like invisible ghosts that you can't catch or understand. Oh no—here, feelings have names and faces and colors and even voices. They walk and talk and dance and play. They live in cozy little houses with their friends and families. They go to work and to school and to the market and to the park. They have adventures and solve problems and learn new things, just like you do.
Some feelings in Feelings Town are big and bold, like Happy, who wears sunshine-yellow clothes and leaves sparkly trails wherever she skips. Some feelings are quiet and gentle, like Calm, who speaks softly and moves slowly and makes everything feel safe and still. Some feelings are a little bit tricky, like Angry, who turns red as a tomato and growls like a little bear when something isn't fair. And some feelings are soft and sad, like Lonely, who sometimes sits on the bench in the Feelings Park, looking at the empty seats around her, wishing someone would come and sit beside her.
But here's the most important secret about Feelings Town, a secret so important that it's written on the great big sign at the entrance to every person's heart: All feelings are okay. Every single one of them. Happy feelings are okay. Sad feelings are okay. Excited feelings are okay. Worried feelings are okay. Even the scary feelings—the ones that make your hands shake and your tummy flip—are okay. They all belong in Feelings Town. They all have a reason for being there. And they all deserve to be noticed and understood.
This is what the little detectives know. And today, dear reader, you are about to become one of them.

The Feelings Detective Agency
Right in the heart of Feelings Town—right where the four main streets come together, in a cozy corner that always smells like warm cookies and fresh pencils—there stands the most wonderful building you ever did see.
It looks like a little cottage made of rainbow bricks, with a round, squishy door painted in swirling spirals of blue and green and gold. The windows are round like bubbles, and they twinkle with warm light no matter what time of day it is. On the roof sits a little bell that chimes whenever someone needs help. And above the door, in letters made of swirling silver and glittering gold, are the words:
THE FEELINGS DETECTIVE AGENCY
Inside the Agency, everything is soft and colorful and just the right size for a young detective. The chairs are squishy and round, perfect for sitting and thinking. The tables are covered with crayons and paper and magical detective tools that we'll learn about together. The walls are lined with books with colorful covers and mysterious titles like "The Mystery of the Mixed-Up Feeling" and "How Feelings Hide and Why They Come Out" and "The Complete Guide to Understanding Everyone (Including Yourself)."
And behind the big wooden desk at the front of the room sits the most important person in the whole Feelings Detective Agency: Chief Feeling.
Chief Feeling is not a person, exactly. He's more like a warm, glowing presence—a friendly guide who helps young detectives learn their way around Feelings Town. He looks a little bit like a teddy bear made of starlight, with kind eyes that seem to know exactly what you're feeling before you even know it yourself. When you sit across from him at the detective desk, he listens with his whole self, and somehow you always feel like the most important detective in the world.
"Welcome, welcome, welcome!" Chief Feeling says whenever a new detective walks through the door. His voice sounds like a combination of your favorite lullaby and a crackling fire on a cold night. "Welcome to the Feelings Detective Agency! Please, please, come in and sit down. We have been expecting you."
And then Chief Feeling leans forward with that knowing smile, and he says the words that every Feelings Detective needs to hear:
"Today, you are going to learn something wonderful. You are going to learn how to notice feelings—your own and other people's. You are going to learn how to name them, because giving a name to something makes it less scary and more manageable. You are going to learn how to understand them—why they come, what they need, and how to take care of them. This is the most important work in the whole world, because feelings are what make us human. They are what connect us to each other. And when we understand them—really understand them—we become better friends, better family members, and better people."
Chief Feeling reaches into his pocket and pulls out a shiny golden badge. It's shaped like a heart, and it sparkles with all the colors of the rainbow.
"This is the Feelings Detective Badge," he says. "When I give this to you, you become an official Feelings Detective. You join a long tradition of detectives who have learned to notice, name, and understand feelings in themselves and others. And from this day forward, you promise to do three very important things."
Chief Feeling holds up one big, soft, starlight paw.
"First, you promise to notice feelings. To pay attention to the clues that feelings leave—how your body feels, what your face is doing, what thoughts are floating around in your head. To be awake and aware, like a detective on the trail of an important mystery."
He holds up a second paw.
"Second, you promise to name feelings. To say out loud—or in your head—what you are feeling. To use your words and your heart to give a name to the thing inside you that is so big and so important. Because when we name our feelings, they become smaller and more manageable. They become things we can understand and talk about."
He holds up a third paw.
"And third, you promise to understand feelings. To ask questions and learn and grow. To figure out why you feel what you feel, and what your feelings are trying to tell you. To be curious and kind, both to yourself and to others."
Chief Feeling smiles his warmest smile.
"This is the Feelings Detective Promise. Do you accept this mission?"
And you—you, the reader, the new detective—you say yes. Because you know, deep in your heart, that this is important work. That understanding feelings is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself and the people you love.
Chief Feeling pins the badge on your chest, and it feels warm and sparkly and wonderful.
"Congratulations," he says. "You are now an official Feelings Detective. Welcome to the team. Welcome to the adventure. And welcome to Feelings Town."

Rosie's Big Feelings
Now, every good detective story needs a mystery to solve. And in Feelings Town, on this very special day, there is indeed a mystery waiting to be solved. A mystery about a young rabbit named Rosie, who feels very, very confused.
Rosie Rabbit was a small rabbit wi
