What is art? When you hear this word, you might picture those confusing famous paintings in museums or those serious adult artists painting on TV. But art is actually not far from us at all. Every time you grab some crayons and doodle on paper, every time you press your fingers in paint to make little footprints, every time you fold colored paper into a little airplane—you are creating art.

画笔可是画笔王国里最重要的工具！不同的画笔有着不同的“魔法”，它们能创造出各种各样的效果。

Brushes are the most important tools in the Brush Kingdom! Different brushes have different "magic" abilities—they can create all sorts of effects.

铅笔（Pencil）是最常见的绘画工具之一。铅笔的笔芯是用石墨和黏土混合制成的，外面包裹着木头。铅笔的硬度用字母和数字来表示：H代表硬（Hard），数字越大越硬，画出来的线条越细越淡；B代表黑（Black），数字越大越软越黑，线条越粗越深；HB则是硬黑适中，是最常用的铅笔。在艺术创作中，艺术家们常用2B到4B的铅笔来起稿，因为这个范围的铅笔既容易上色，又不会太硬划伤纸面。

A pencil is one of the most common drawing tools. The core of a pencil is made from a mixture of graphite and clay, wrapped in wood. Pencil hardness is indicated by letters and numbers: H stands for Hard, larger numbers mean harder cores, creating thinner and lighter lines; B stands for Black, larger numbers mean softer and darker cores, creating thicker and deeper lines; HB is medium hard and black, and is the most commonly used pencil. In art creation, artists often use 2B to 4B pencils for sketching because this range is easy to shade with and won't scratch the paper.

Colored pencils are little magicians full of color. They're made by pressing pigment and clay together, wrapped in a wooden shell. Colored pencils are easy to control, perfect for drawing fine details and layering colors to create rich depth. Professional colored pencil sets usually contain 48 or even more colors, from deep red to light pink, from sky blue to dark purple—you name it.

Crayons are waterproof, perfect for children's free doodling without worrying about dirty clothes. But crayons have one small drawback—they're not great for very detailed work. The world's first box of crayons was created in 1903 by the American company Binney & Smith, and initially came in only 8 colors.

When the brush tip touches wet pigment, the bristles absorb color like a sponge, then leave beautiful traces on paper stroke by stroke. Watercolor brushes come in different shapes: round brushes are great for details and outlining, flat brushes are perfect for filling in color and painting large background areas.

Oil brushes come in various shapes: fan brushes are great for soft blending and fixing details, filbert brushes are good for thin lines and smooth strokes, and flat brushes are the most versatile choice, capable of creating everything from thin lines to thick blocks.
