Chapter 1: Welcome to Movement World—The Magic of Moving Our Bodies
Deep in the heart of a place where sunshine tastes like honey and the trees whisper secrets to anyone who listens, there exists a world so wonderful that even the stars come down at night to play in its meadows. This is Movement World—a magical land where every body is celebrated, every wiggle matters, and every single day brings brand new adventures for those who are brave enough to explore.
Now, if you were to travel to Movement World, the very first thing you'd notice is that nothing ever stays still. Not the flutter-butterflies with their rainbow wings, not the jingle-bells that hang from every mushroom and flower, and certainly not the happy creatures who call this enchanted place home. In Movement World, moving is what everyone does best, and there's always something exciting happening—from the teeny-tiniest wiggle of a dragonfly's wings to the tremendous tumbling of the mountain goats across the Crystal Peaks.
But here's the most magical secret of all, dear friend, and I'm so glad you've discovered it: you are already a part of Movement World. That's right! Every single day, in every single moment, you are moving and grooving and shaking and shaping your very own body. Every time you reach for your favorite stuffed animal, you're moving. Every time you kick a ball across the grass, you're moving. Every time you scrunch up your nose when you smell something silly, or waggle your fingers in the air, or even just breathe in and out and in and out—that's moving too!
And oh, what magnificent movers you are!
One bright morning, just as the golden sun stretched its warm arms across the sky of Movement World and painted everything in shades of amber and rose, something very special was about to happen. In a cozy burrow beneath the roots of the Great Whispering Willow—a tree so ancient that it remembered when the world was young—lived a small bunny named Champion.
Champion wasn't your ordinary bunny. For one thing, Champion had ears that could swivel in any direction to catch the faintest sound. For another thing, Champion had fur that sparkled like the morning dew when the sun hit it just right. But most importantly, Champion had the biggest, bravest, most curious heart of any creature in all of Movement World.
Champion loved to hop, of course—every bunny loves to hop. But Champion also loved to run and skip and dance and spin. Champion loved to dig with tiny paws and stretch up high on hind legs to reach the juiciest clover leaves. Champion loved to wiggle a twitchy little nose and wiggle even tinier whiskers and wiggle all the way from the tip of fluffy tail to the very top of one sparkle-shimmering ear.
"I wonder," Champion said one morning, sitting up on strong back legs to peer out of the burrow entrance, "what adventures are waiting for me today in Movement World?"
Just then, something extraordinary happened. A breeze unlike any other breeze came swirling down from the willow branches above. It swirled and twirled and scattered tiny golden particles through the air—particles that looked just like dust but felt like stardust and smelled like wildflowers and possibility.
Champion's nose twitched wildly. "What's this?" Champion breathed, and the golden dust floated right into that twitchy nose, filling Champion with a warm, tingly feeling that spread all the way from the tips of those sparkle-shimmering ears down to the soft pink pads of tiny bunny feet.
The Great Whispering Willow rustled and swayed, and though it was ancient and wise and had seen countless creatures come and go, it had never forgotten how to be kind. Its branches lowered gently until one silver-leafed bough was hanging right in front of Champion's burrow, and hanging from that bough was a letter made entirely of woven moonlight and morning dew.
Champion's eyes went wide—wider than they'd ever been before. Carefully, so carefully, Champion reached up and untied the letter from the silver branch. The paper shimmered and sang a little song as it unfurled, and these were the words written on it in letters that sparkled like the stars:
*"Dear Champion the Wonder Bunny,*
*Movement World needs your help! For generations, our beloved land has been blessed with two magnificent kingdoms—the Kingdom of Gross and the Kingdom of Fine. For as long as anyone can remember, these kingdoms have worked together in perfect harmony, teaching every creature in Movement World how to move their bodies in wonderful and wiggly ways.*
*But lately, the creatures of Movement World have forgotten how special their moving bodies really are. They take their incredible abilities for granted, never stopping to appreciate the magic of a stretch, the wonder of a walk, or the joy of a jump. Some have even become so still and quiet that they've forgotten how much fun moving can be!*
*Champion, you are the bravest bunny we know. You move with joy and curiosity every single day. Will you help us remind everyone in Movement World—big and small, feathered and furred, slimy and scaly—about the amazing adventure of growing strong through movement?*
*Will you become a Movement Champion?*
*With sparkle-dust blessings and wiggle-waggles of hope,* *The Guardians of Movement World"*
Champion read the letter three times, four times, five times. Each time, the words seemed to shimmer brighter and the golden dust in Champion's nose tingled more and more. This was it! This was the adventure Champion had been waiting for!
"Oh my goodness!" Champion squeaked with excitement, hopping from one foot to the other. "I get to help people discover how amazing moving their bodies can be? That's the most wonderful thing I've ever heard!"
And just like that, Champion the Wonder Bunny set off on the most important journey of a very hoppy life. The burrow door was left behind, the Great Whispering Willow waved its silver branches in farewell, and Movement World stretched out before Champion like a magnificent story waiting to be written.
---
The first place Champion decided to explore was the Kingdom of Gross. This wasn't because the Kingdom of Fine was any less important—oh no, both kingdoms were equally wonderful—but Champion had heard that the Kingdom of Gross was where all the really BIG adventures happened. And Champion absolutely adored big adventures.
The path to the Kingdom of Gross wound through the Giggle-Grove, a forest of trees that grew in shapes so silly that you couldn't help but laugh when you saw them. There were trees with branches that twisted into spirals like ice cream cones, and trees with trunks so knobby and bumpy that they looked like they were wearing the world's comfiest sweaters. There were trees that leaned to the left and trees that leaned to the right and one very famous tree that leaned so far forward it looked like it was trying to smell its own roots.
As Champion bounced along the path, something caught that twitching nose. The smell of fresh grass and wild berries and something else—something exciting. Champion followed the scent around a particularly silly tree (one that had grown its branches into the shape of a giant rabbit ear) and emerged into a clearing that took Champion's breath away.
This was the Gross Motor Gardens, the heart of the Kingdom of Gross. And it was absolutely, positively, without-a-doubt the most wonderful place Champion had ever seen.
The gardens stretched out in every direction, full of meadows and hills and obstacles and opportunities for the most magnificent movements. There were rolling green hills perfect for running and tumbling. There were fallen logs just waiting to be balanced across. There were puddles of all sizes (though they were actually made of liquid sapphire, not water) perfect for leaping over. And everywhere, everywhere, there were creatures of every shape and size, all moving their bodies in the most extraordinary ways.
A family of deer pranced across a meadow, their long legs carrying them in graceful leaps that made Champion's heart sing
