Welcome to Super City
Welcome to Super City
The morning sun shines on the streets of Super City, golden rays like magic awakening the whole city. The glass walls of tall buildings sparkle brilliantly, and people on the streets begin their busy day. Robots wake from their sleep, ready to start a new day's work.
Did you know? This magical city is actually inside your computer and phone! When you're playing your favorite game, watching fun videos, or creating artwork with a drawing app, Super City is running at high speed inside your device.
Today, we're going to explore this magical city together, meet those "traffic policemen" who work silently, and see how they keep countless tasks running in an orderly manner.
Section 1: What is Super City?
Super City—what a cool name, right? Let's imagine a city where instead of ordinary people, thousands of tiny robots live here, and each one has its own job to do.
Some robots are solving math problems, some are drawing beautiful pictures, some are playing lovely music, and others are waiting for your instructions. When you tap a button on the screen, countless robots immediately start bustling about, cooperating and working together to complete tasks.
In the world of computers, these "little robots" are actually different tasks in a program. When we open a browser on the computer, play a song, and download multiple files at the same time, the computer needs to "do many things" simultaneously. This ability to "do many things at once" has a special name in computer science called Concurrency.
> 💡 小知识 / Fun Fact > > "并发"这个词来自拉丁语"concurrere",意思是"一起奔跑"。想象一下,很多小机器人一起在赛道上奔跑,它们都在运动,但不一定同时经过同一个地点哦! > > The word "concurrency" comes from the Latin "concurrere," meaning "to run together." Imagine many little robots running on a track at the same time—they're all moving, but they don't necessarily pass the same spot simultaneously!
But just "starting together" isn't enough. Sometimes, these tasks need to truly happen "at the same time," like how you can walk on a treadmill while watching TV. Computer scientists call this true simultaneous execution Parallelism.
```mermaid graph LR A[单一任务
Single Task] --> B[并发
Concurrency] A --> C[并行
Parallelism] B --> D[交替进行
交替执行] C --> E[同时进行
同时执行]
看,这张图告诉我们并发和并行是不同的。并发就像两个小朋友轮流玩同一个玩具,一人一分钟地交替;并行就像两个小朋友同时玩两个一模一样的玩具。
Look, this diagram shows us that concurrency and parallelism are different. Concurrency is like two kids taking turns playing with the same toy, one minute each. Parallelism is like two kids playing with two identical toys at the same time.
第二节:小镇的早晨
Section 2: A Morning in Town
要让小朋友们更好地理解超级城市是怎么工作的,让我们先来看看一个小镇的早晨会发生什么。
To help kids better understand how Super City works, let's first look at what happens on a morning in a small town.
想象你住在一个叫"宁静镇"的小地方。这个镇子不大,只有一条主街,街的两边是各种各样的店铺。杂货店的老板张叔叔每天早上要去进货,面包房的王阿姨要早早起来烤面包,邮递员小李要挨家挨户送信,快递员大壮要送包裹到每家每户。
Imagine you live in a small place called "Tranquil Town." This town isn't big—it has only one main street, with various shops on both sides. Uncle Zhang, the grocery store owner, goes to stock up every morning. Aunt Wang at the bakery bakes bread early. Mailman Xiao Li delivers letters door to door. Delivery guy Dazhuang sends packages to every household.
在一个普通的早晨,张叔叔开着他运货的小卡车从镇子东边过来,王阿姨推着她装满面包的三轮车从西边过来,小李骑着自行车送信,大壮开着快递三轮车送包裹。他们都要经过同一条主街。
On an ordinary morning, Uncle Zhang drives his small delivery truck from the east side of town. Aunt Wang pushes her tricycle loaded with bread from the west. Xiao Li rides his bicycle delivering letters. Dazhuang drives his delivery van delivering packages. They all need to use the same main street.
如果没有人来管理交通,会发生什么情况呢?
What would happen if nobody managed the traffic?
张叔叔的卡车可能会和王阿姨的三轮车在街道中间撞在一起!小李的自行车可能会被大壮的快递车挡住去路。结果,整条街都会乱成一团,谁也无法顺利到达自己的目的地。
Uncle Zhang's truck might crash into Aunt Wang's tricycle right in the middle of the street! Xiao Li's bicycle might get blocked by Dazhuang's delivery van. The result? The whole street becomes chaotic, and nobody can reach their destination smoothly.
幸好,镇上有一位神奇的交通警察——熊猫警官!他戴着一顶白色的帽子,穿着荧光绿的制服,每天早上都会站在主街最重要的十字路口,用他聪明的方法让所有人都能有序地通过。
Fortunately, the town has a magical traffic policeman—Officer Panda! He wears a white hat and a fluorescent green uniform. Every morning, he stands at the most important intersection on Main Street and uses his clever methods to let everyone pass through in an orderly way.
熊猫警官挥挥手中的小旗帜,告诉张叔叔:"等一下,让王阿姨先过!"他又向小李点点头,示意他可以从旁边的小巷绕过去。就这样,在他的指挥下,每个需要过路的人都能安全、快速地到达自己的目的地。
Officer Panda waves his little flag and tells Uncle Zhang, "Wait a moment, let Aunt Wang go first!" He nods at Xiao Li, signaling he can take the side alley. With his guidance, everyone who needs to cross the street can safely and quickly reach their destination.
第三节:超级城市中的交通警察
Section 3: Traffic Policemen in Super City
现在,让我们把目光转回到超级城市。在这座由代码构成的奇妙城市里,住着无数的小机器人,它们每个人都迫不及待地想要完成自己的任务。
Now, let's turn our attention back to Super City. In this wonderful city made of code, countless little robots live here, each eager to complete their tasks.
但是,就像宁静镇的主街一样,超级城市里也有很多"公共资源"——比如内存空间、硬盘读写、网络连接、打印设备等等。这些资源一次只能被一个任务使用,就像一条窄窄的桥,一次只能通过一辆车。
But just like Main Street in Tranquil Town, Super City also has many "public resources"—such as memory space, hard drive reading and writing, network connections, printer devices, and more. These resources can only be used by one task at a time, just like a narrow bridge that can only let one car cross at a time.
如果两个任务同时想要使用同一个资源,会发生什么呢?就像两个小朋友同时想要坐同一把椅子一样——它们会"打架",计算机就会出错甚至崩溃!
What happens if two tasks want to use the same resource at the same time? It's like two kids wanting to sit in the same chair—they'll "fight," and the computer might make mistakes or even crash!
这就是为什么超级城市也需要"交通警察"。这些神奇的交通警察有一个专业的名字,叫做调度器(Scheduler)。调度器的工作就是确保所有的任务都能公平、合理地使用公共资源,就像熊猫警官让镇子里的人们有序地通过十字路口一样。
This is why Super City also needs "traffic policemen." These magical traffic policemen have a professional name—they're called Schedulers. The scheduler's job is to ensure all tasks can use public resources fairly and reasonably, just like how Officer Panda lets the townspeople pass through the intersection in an orderly manner.
```mermaid graph TD subgraph 超级城市内部[🏙️ 超级城市内部 / Inside Super City] T1[任务1: 显示画面
Task 1: Display] T2[
Task 2: Sound] T3[
Task 3: Read File] T4[
Task 4: Network]
