Xiao Ming's room was simply a super huge maze.
Every morning, when sunlight crept in through the gaps in the curtains, a "thump-thump-bang-bang" sound would echo from Xiao Ming's room. It wasn't thunder, wasn't rain—it was Xiao Ming rummaging through everything again, looking for something.
"This school uniform was definitely on the bed yesterday!" Xiao Ming was sweating profusely, hopping around on one foot, almost tripping over a comic book.
His room was filled with his "treasures"—half-read comic books stacked into little mountains, Transformers and Ultramen crowded together on a chair "having a meeting," LEGO pieces scattered in every corner like a group of lost little soldiers. And that favorite blue T-shirt? Who knew when it had hidden behind the bookshelf, making faces at Xiao Ming.
"I definitely remember putting it here!" Xiao Ming scratched his head, looking completely puzzled.
Just when this chaotic morning was at its peak, a heart-wrenching piece of news arrived—his most beloved red toy car was missing! That was the special gift Dad had brought back from his business trip. Xiao Ming had given it a name: "Little Red." He put it beside his pillow every night to sleep peacefully.
"Little Red! Little Red!" Xiao Ming's voice trembled with tears, "Where are you?!"
Xiao Ming began a thrilling "big search." First, he got down on all fours, peeking under the bed like a little puppy—nothing there except a dusty football and a smelly sock. Then he opened the wardrobe, and with a "whoosh," the mountain of clothes collapsed, burying him inside.
"Cough cough cough—" Xiao Ming popped his head out from the pile of clothes, his face full of despair.
Next, he searched through every book on the bookshelf,堆满了 toys on the desk, and the bedsheets were in complete disarray. Two hours passed, and Xiao Ming collapsed onto the floor, tears welling up in his eyes.
"Why can't I find it?" he murmured softly, "I really did put Little Red beside my pillow..."
Just then, the door creaked open. Mom stood in the doorway, seeing the "battlefield" before her, and let out a deep sigh.
"Xiao Ming, look at your room. Doesn't it look like a super maze?" Mom walked into the room and squatted beside Xiao Ming.
Xiao Ming looked up, his eyes red and puffy. He glanced around his room—comic books, toys, clothes, socks, shoes... all tangled up like a mess of noodles. It really did look like a maze, just like Mom said!
"Now you know why you can't find Little Red, right?" Mom gently patted Xiao Ming's head, "Do you know how many things are in this room?"
Xiao Ming shook his head. He'd never counted them.
"Let me help you count, okay?" Mom stood up and walked around the room, "You see, comic books are here, toys are there, clothes are on this side, shoes are over there... If you know where everything should be placed, finding things becomes super easy!"
Xiao Ming blinked, seeming to understand a little.
Mom opened the window, letting fresh air flow into the room. "Xiao Ming, let's play a game. It's called the 'Find Friends' game. Everything has its own 'good friends' and its own 'home.' For example, the good friend of a comic book is another comic book. They should live together, all on the bookshelf. The good friend of a toy car is another little car. They should live in the toy box."
"What about socks?" Xiao Ming asked curiously.
"Socks' good friends are socks. They should live in the drawer. Clothes' good friends are clothes. They should live in the wardrobe." Mom smiled, "Now let's try putting these 'lost' little guys back to their homes, shall we?"
Xiao Ming rubbed his eyes and stood up. This time, he felt like the things in his room didn't look so scary anymore.
"Let's start from under the bed!" Mom brought out a big storage box, "We'll pick up everything on the floor first, then sort them into categories."
And so, Mom and Xiao Ming began the "Organization Adventure." They started by searching under the bed and found many "treasures"—the red toy car (the missing Little Red!), a dirty storybook, three empty snack bags, two socks of different colors, and Xiao Ming's piggy bank.
"Found it! Found it!" Xiao Ming jumped up with excitement, hugging Little Red tightly, tears nearly falling again.
"Don't rush, don't rush. There are more treasures waiting for us to find!" Mom laughed.
Next, they organized the bookshelf. Comic books were arranged in order, storybooks stood neatly together. Mom also found several small boxes and had Xiao Ming sort different LEGO pieces into them.
"You see," Mom picked up a box, "The red LEGO bricks live in this box, and the blue LEGO bricks live in that box. Finding them becomes so much easier, right?"
Xiao Ming nodded vigorously, his eyes sparkling.
They organized the wardrobe next, sorting clothes into two categories—clothes worn often hung on hangers, clothes worn less frequently folded neatly in storage boxes. Socks and underwear each found their place, never to wander around again.
Finally, Mom placed a large storage basket in the corner of the room. "This basket is for 'wandering toys,'" she explained, "From now on, if you play with toys but don't want to put them back immediately, you can put them in this basket first. Before bedtime, we put the toys from the basket back to their 'homes.'"
"That way we won't lose toys anymore!" Xiao Ming said happily.
The entire afternoon, Xiao Ming and Mom gave the room a complete transformation. When the last rays of sunset streamed through the window, the room was neat and clean.
"Look, does your room still look like a maze?" Mom asked.
Xiao Ming looked around—books on the shelf neat and tidy, clothes in the wardrobe each in their place, to
