Have you ever had this experience? You wake up in the morning and find yourself not in your familiar room, but in a completely strange place. Outside the window, instead of the old locust tree next to your house, there's a vast blue sea or rolling mountains. You take a deep breath and smell not your mom's cooking, but the salty breeze of the ocean or the fragrance of prairie grass. At that moment, doesn't your heart beat faster? Aren't you eager to rush outside and see what's waiting for you?
This feeling, this excitement with your heart racing, is the first gift travel gives you.

We're All "Traveling" Every Day — The Wonderful Journey from Home to School
Perhaps you'll say, "I haven't been to any faraway places yet! I've only been to grandma's house or on spring field trips organized by school." Dear child, let me tell you a secret — actually, you're traveling every single day!
Imagine, every morning when your alarm clock rings and you climb out of your little bed. You put on your clothes, wash up, grab your backpack, and walk out the door. This series of actions is actually the beginning of a little trip. You start from "home" as your departure point, go through a journey, and finally arrive at school as your destination. Along the way, you might stop at the convenience store to buy a steaming hot meat bun, you might see that big orange cat that sunbathes on the street corner every day, or while waiting for the traffic light at the intersection, you might look up and see an airplane emerge from the clouds, leaving a long white trail behind it.
Look! This is the essence of travel. Travel isn't some mysterious big event — it's simply going from a place you know well to a place you're less familiar with or want to explore. Between these two points lies a journey full of surprises and discoveries.
Now, let's zoom in on this journey. Imagine setting off from home, not to school, but to a place very, very far away — maybe Tiananmen Square in Beijing, maybe the ancient city of Lijiang in Yunnan, maybe the ends of the earth in Hainan Island. When you embark on this real journey, you'll discover that travel gives you far more than you ever imagined.

What is Travel? It's Not Just "Being in a Different Place"
Many people think travel is just "sleeping, eating, and playing on your phone in a different place." If you think that way, you're underestimating travel! Travel is nowhere near that boring.
The famous writer Mr. Yu Guangzhong once wrote: "Travel changes a person's temperament, broadens their vision." What does this mean? Let me tell you a little story, and you'll understand.
Xiao Ming was a little boy who lived in a small village surrounded by high mountains. All his life, the biggest body of water he'd ever seen was the winding stream at the village entrance. Xiao Ming's favorite thing to do was lie by the stream, watching little fish swim back and forth. He often wondered, "What does it really look like beyond the mountains?"
One day, Xiao Ming's uncle came back from working far away. The uncle brought Xiao Ming a glowing square box — it was a tablet computer. The uncle also saved many, many pictures on it: the vast ocean Xiao Ming had never seen before, stretching endlessly, with water so blue it was even bluer than the sky; tall buildings standing in the city like giants, their windows sparkling in the sunlight; all sorts of cars crawling along the roads like beetles; and people wearing all kinds of strange clothes, speaking different languages, with all kinds of expressions on their faces.
Xiao Ming's eyes went wide, his mouth forming a big O shape. "Are... are these real?" he stammered.
His uncle nodded and smiled: "Of course they're real! But just looking at pictures isn't enough. When you grow up, you must go see it for yourself. Only when you've seen it with your own eyes and experienced it yourself can you really know how big and wonderful this world is!"
Xiao Ming牢牢记住了 these words. A few years later, he really did walk out of the mountains and saw the real ocean, the real city, the real world. When he returned to his hometown, he saw things differently. He began observing the mountain he'd seen since childhood from different angles, discovering that the wild flowers blooming on the mountain in spring were so beautiful, that the stones in the little stream sparkled in the sunlight.
This is the magic of travel. It can't make you taller or prettier, but it can make you smarter, more interesting, and more able to appreciate the beautiful things in life.

Why Do We Set Off? The Five Gifts Travel Gives Us
So, what can travel specifically bring us? Let's look at the "Five Gifts of Travel" together!
🎁 Gift One: Open Your Eyes — See Different Scenery
Have you noticed that the scenery along your daily route to school is actually quite similar? Maybe the same row of shops, the same row of streetlights, the same row of big trees. Over time, your eyes get used to these scenes and start automatically "filtering" them out — you might walk past that street a hundred times without noticing the new ice cream shop that opened on the corner.
But travel is different! When you come to an unfamiliar place, your eyes are like they've been reactivated. You discover: "Wow, houses can actually be built on the sea!" "Wow, the sand in the desert really does sparkle like gold!" "Wow, elephants can be so big, even taller than my apartment building!"
This sense of wonder, this exclamation of "So things can be like this too!" is the first surprise travel gives you. It keeps your brain active and your curiosity forever young.
Did you know? Scientists have discovered that when people go to a new place, their brains release a special substance that makes them feel excited and happy. This feeling is just like receiving a long-awaited gift on your birthday! So, travel can't only let your eyes see more, it can also make your mood better!
🎁 Gift Two: Open Your Ears — Hear Different Sounds
